酶(enzyme)是由活细胞产生的、对其底物具有高度特异性和高度催化效能的蛋白质或RNA。酶的催化作用有赖于酶分子的一级结构及空间结构的完整。是一类极为重要的生物催化剂(biocatalyst)。辅酶(coenzyme)是一大类有机辅助因子的总称,是酶催化氧化还原反应、基团转移和异构反应的必须因子。是一类可以将化学基团从一个酶转移到另一个酶上的有机小分子,与酶较为松散地结合,对于特定酶的活性发挥是必要的。
