Platycodin D (PD) is a triterpenoid saponin found in the root of Platycodon grandifloras called Platycodonis Radix.

应用

Platycodin D has been used:

to test its anti-inflammatory and inhibitory effect on eosinophilic airway inflammation and T-helper type 2 (Th2) signaling pathways using ovalbumin (OVA)-induced allergic asthma mouse model
to test its anti-obese effects on the activation of brown adipose tissue featuring in vivo and in vitro studies
to test its efficacy as an adjuvant with infectious bronchitis (IB) vaccine in chicken

生化/生理作用

Platycodin D elicits strong anti-cancer properties and exhibits cytotoxicity against several cancer cell lines of both in vitro and in vivo origin. It exerts anti-inflammatory and protective effects against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI) by upregulating liver-X receptors α (LXRα) and ATP-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) signaling pathway. It also possesses protective effects against Cisplatin (CDDP)-induced nephrotoxicity in mice.
