Ethylmalonic acid may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in the following:
- Human biological fluids using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS).
- Urine samples of uterine myoma and uterine cervical cancer patients using gas chromatography and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry.
It may be used as an analytical standard to investigate its role in the inhibition of succinate and malate transport through the mitochondrial membranes in rats.
